GTDS TEAM

Marc Delahaut, Managing Director
Marc Delahaut has 22 years of experience in Marketing and Sales of Defense products and services. He started his career at FN Herstal in Belgium where he spent 10 years in various positions, the last being Area Sales Manager responsible for several Middle East countries. He immigrated to Canada in 1994 and joined SNC Technologies Inc. (SNC TEC) where he stayed for the next 11 years. He became a Canadian citizen in 2001.
After holding several senior international marketing and sales positions in his early years with the company, Mr. Delahaut was appointed Executive Vice-President, Business Development in charge of the worldwide commercial activities for all divisions of SNC TEC. His responsibilities encompassed all aspects of sales, marketing, proposals, product management, strategic alliances and teaming Agreements, offsets and corporate communications. He was also responsible for the company’s strategic planning for many years.
Mr. Delahaut has devised and implemented winning sales strategies in many parts of the world. From 1994 to 2001, he personally conducted sales and marketing activities on the ground in 35 countries. By so doing, he developed a clear understanding of the many factors (e.g., cultural, political, legal and economic) that influence the outcome of international dealings. This resulted in the successful orchestration and negotiation by Mr. Delahaut of various acquisitions, technology transfers, partnership agreements and other arrangements with numerous US and European companies.
Due to his proactive involvement in strategic partnerships and alliances, Mr. Delahaut has gathered an intimate knowledge of the defence industry and its dynamics worldwide. This knowledge was fundamental to his involvement in establishing and managing an efficient network of local agents spanning four continents for SNC TEC. During his 11 years with this company, the ratio of international sales to national (i.e., Canadian) sales, on a percentage basis, increased from 5/95 to 60/40. The corresponding revenues resulting from international sales increased from an average of $125 M to about $300 M during the same period.
Finally, in another aspect of the business, Mr. Delahaut played a significant role in the transaction that resulted in SNC TEC acquiring the company now called EXPRO TEC in 2002. Specifically, he was intimately involved in both the organization of the SNC TEC position and then the negotiations with the Canadian Federal Government, Quebec Provincial Government and other stakeholders with an interest in the acquisition.
Mr. Delahaut left SNC TEC at the beginning of 2005 to found GTDS (Global Technologies for Defence and Security) in partnership with Mr. Louis Roy.

His expertise also extends into program management, the adaptation of licensed foreign technologies for use by the Canadian Forces, and the transfer of new R&D products into the marketplace.
He started his career with Canadian Arsenals Limited (CAL) working on the development of new products, but soon moved into the Marketing and Sales Department where he was responsible for the company’s products and services in the US. In 1990 Mr. Roy moved to Expro Chemicals Ltd, a company specializing in energetic materials for military use, as Program Manager and Sales Director again for the US market. A few years later, he moved to ATS Aerospace as International Marketing Director. In these three positions, over time, he developed a worldwide network of agents and distributors through which many products were successfully introduced into various defence and civil aviation markets.
Commencing in 1996, as an independent consultant, Mr. Roy successfully promoted the products and capabilities of several Canadian companies in the world defence market. During this period of his career, he also concluded a number of transactions with foreign countries for the sale of defence surplus assets (missiles, guns, ammunition, armoured vehicles, etc) on behalf of the Canadian Government. In all, he was active in more than 30 countries and achieved sales on every continent.
Then, in 2002, Mr. Roy joined SNC Technologies Inc (SNC TEC) as Vice President Business Development for International Programs, where he significantly increased sales on the international markets over the following three years, including the addition of several new customers. In addition, he was responsible for the development of a wide and efficient distribution network in more than 30 countries for SNC TEC’s new training SIMUNITION products, targeting in particular defence (special and regular forces) and law enforcement markets.
Mr. Roy left SNC TEC at the beginning of 2005 to found GTDS (Global Technologies for Defence and Security) in partnership with Mr. Marc Delahaut.
